The NS, or Name Server records of a domain, indicate which servers handle the Domain Name System (DNS) records for it. Setting the name servers of a particular host company for your domain address is the most convenient way to forward it to their system and all its sub-records are going to be managed on their end. This includes A (the IP address of the server/website), MX (mail server), TXT (free text), SRV (services), CNAME (forwarding), and so on, so if you would like to edit any of these records, you're going to be able to do it through their system. In other words, the NS records of a domain reveal the DNS servers that are authoritative for it, so when you try to open a web address, the DNS servers are contacted to get the DNS records of the domain name you are attempting to access. This way the site you will see is going to be retrieved from the correct location. The name servers normally have a prefix “ns” or “dns” and each and every domain address has at least two NS records. There's no functional difference between the two prefixes, so what kind a website hosting provider will use depends solely on their preference.

NS Records in Cloud Web Hosting

The outstanding Hepsia CP, which comes with our cloud web hosting packages, allows you to deal with the name servers of each and every domain registered through our company with only a few mouse clicks, so even when you haven't had a web hosting plan or a domain address before, you won't encounter any problems. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, comes with a very user-friendly interface and it'll permit you to change the NS records of any domain or even a number of domain addresses together. We give you the chance to create child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for each and every domain registered within the account just as easily and all you need for that is a couple of IPs - either ours, if you will use the child NS to direct the domain address to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party company if you'll use the new records to point the domain to their system. Unlike other providers, we do not charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you register a new domain name inside a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar provider, you will be able to update its NS records as needed without any issues even if you haven't had a domain name of your own before. The process takes several clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly management tool, provided with our semi-dedicated packages. If you have several domains in the account, you'll be able to update all of them at once, which can save you quite a lot of time and clicks. You can also see with ease the name servers which a domain address uses and if they're the right ones or not in order for the domain to be forwarded to the account that you have on our advanced cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will also allow you to create private name servers under any domain registered in the account and use them not just for that domain address, but also for any other one that you intend to direct to our cloud platform.
